Namibia 2024
Level 2, February 18 – March 1, 2024 lead by Allie Henderson
Expedition Overview
Namibia pushed everything to the limit—115°F heat, deep sand, and long, demanding days. Built as a true proving ground, this expedition tested grit, sharpened skills, and brought out leadership in every rider.
Route Highlights
Notable Stops
- Brandberg White Lady Lodge: Sitting poolside waiting for elephants to walk by and chilling with the local meerkats
- Mount Etjo Safari: We saw all the animals; lions feeding, an elephant knocked down a tree and a black mamba slithered by and went up into the tree!
The Ride
- Terrain: Sand, rocky passes, sandy river washes, did we mention sand?
- Weather: Roasting ass hot! We saw the thermometer hit 46C (115F) in full riding gear.
What stood out
- Best Riding Moments: Riding alongside giraffes and elephants!
- Off-Bike Highlights: Desert sunrise with the baboons, jumping in the pool all geared up, sunset above elephants
- Critters Spotted: Zebra, elephant, lion, ostrich, black mamba, pink flamingos, kudu, baboon, rhinos, oryx, gemsbok, springbok, giraffe, meerkat
The Reality
What made it tough + how it was handled: Heatstroke, ankle injuries, motorcycle break down in a village, overheated cell phones which meant no maps so we had to improvise!
