Expedition Overview

Croatia brought the heat, the clearest water we’ve ever seen, and miles of perfect winding roads. From Plitvice Lakes National Park to an abandoned airplane bunker, it was nonstop exploration.

Notable Stops

  • Eye of Croatia: A quick mid-day hike to see the crystal blue waters.
  • Plitvice Lakes National Park: Exploring the views and many waterfalls.
  • Željava Air Base: We explored the dark abandoned airplane bunkers.
  • Baredine Cave: Got out of the heat and cooled off in the cave.
  • Pula Arena Amphitheater: Walked around the amphitheater that they still use today.

The Ride

  • Terrain: Pavement, mountain roads and coastal routes.
  • Weather: Hot and humid.

What Stood Out

  • Best Riding Moments: Exploring the airplane bunker!
  • Off-Bike Highlights: Walking the wooden pathways through Plitvice and the violin show each evening that one of the riders brought along.

The Reality

What made it tough + how it was handled: Heat stroke during the record summer temperatures made for a struggle with some riders, but we had to push through.
